Individual Reading: Vocabulary

Hello! I’m reading an autobiographical book “I’m Malala” about an ordinary Pakistanian girl and her tough life path. This book makes me think a lot and appreciate things that I have in my life now, but I will talk about my impressions later. Now I would like to share some new words from this book:

1. Pious-devoutly religious
2. Blasphemy-the action or offence of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things; profane talk
3. Double-jointed-flexible
4. A gnawing feeling-persistently worrying or distressing feeling
5. To be drenched in shame- to fill or cover completely as if by soaking in shame
